These images were taken on July 4, 2011, in Anchorage, Alaska. It was a pleasant day and people were having a good time. Anchorage is mostly vacant on the 4th as everyone heads out of town for fishing, boating, hiking and biking. The 4th of July is a camping out day. Many locals head to Seward, Alaska for the Mt. Marathon race, which draws over 10,000 visitors.
I shot these photos in JPEG with a vivid setting, which produces bold colors that are too harsh for skin tones. While many people like saturated color in their final images, be aware that decreasing saturation in post processing does not always produce pleasant results. It is much easier to add saturation and vibrancy to an image with Lightroom than it is to remove the characteristics. I learned that JPEGs are inferior to shooting RAW images. I will remove any image upon request by contacting me at email@example.com.
