These 2012 images were taken in Hatcher Pass in late summer. People and bears were picking berries. At least a hundred vehicles were parked along the side of Fern Mine Road. They are hard to see, but there are people in the brush picking berries in some of the photos. Across the valley a mother grizzly and her cubs were also picking berries to fatten up for hibernating. There are many old mines in the area.
Hatcher Pass has very bold greens in the summer that sometimes look fake. My second hand Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 lens was used to take most of these photos. I used a surveyor tripod to make sure the heavy lens was secure and to keep camera shake to a minimum.
