These images show people participating in the Running of the Reindeer during the 2015 Fur Rendezvous in Anchorage, Alaska. Runners were dressed in costumes and having fun. The event provides whacky Alaskan-Style fun. Reindeer wore antlers. Nobody was gorged this year. Most of these shots are of people watching the event, not participants. I enjoy taking photographs of typical Alaskans to show the world what we look like. We had one of the warmest winters in history and people were not wearing furs.
I used my Nikon D600 and Nikon 70-200mm f/4 lens to take these images with a monopod. I try to remain inconspicuous when photographing an event, but it is hard at times when you are carrying a monopod with a telephone lens attached. It was overcast so correct exposures were easy to acquire. I utilized the len’s largest F-stop to keep depth of field narrow so only facial features were in sharp focus. Having a soft out-of-focus background does not divert attention from a person’s in-focus face. I will remove any image upon request by contacting me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
