These images were taken at the ceremonial start of the Iron Dog Snowmachine Race in Anchorage, Alaska in February 2016. It is the world’s longest snowmobile race. Racers travel to Nome and then to Fairbanks. A distance of 2,050 miles. The photographs are of people watching the event. People are usually wearing winter fur coats, hats and gloves, but it was just too warm this February. The race restarts in Big Lake, Alaska the following day.
I used Lightroom to remove red from people’s faces due to the long exposure to cold. I used a monopod with my Nikon D810 and 70-200mm f/4 lens. I will remove any image upon request by contacting me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
