Alaskans get up early to run in the Frostbite Footrace during the first Saturday of the Fur Rendezvous in Anchorage, Alaska. Many racers wear warm costumes since it is chilly in February. This year we had no snow in Anchorage, just like the last several years. The arctic has become one of the first regions to feel the negative influences of global warming. People were wearing furs, but not as many as usual since it was too warmth that furs.

I took these images with my Nikon D810 and Nikon 70-200mm f/4 zoom lens attached to a monopod. It was cloudy and the sky was acting like a giant soft box creating diffused even light. The overcast conditions were perfect for photographing people since there was no bright light producing harsh shadows or causing subjects to squint their eyes.
