I arrived late to the April 2017 Earth Day and March for Science events in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. There were maybe 100 people remaining after the end of the 1,500-2,000 person march that finished at the Anchorage Museum. I was late to the march because I had photographed the Heart Run before I biked to the celebration. People were protesting the fact that many politicians do not support science and research-backed facts. Supporters were young and old. Most marchers had an earthy look-no bright colored clothes. The march must have been a success as people leaving the event were all smiles. Everyone was visiting with each other.
I used a monopod with a Nikon 70-200mm f/4 lens attached to my Nikon D600. It was a bright day with extreme contrast so it was hard to obtain correct exposures. I was unable to use many photographs due to blown out highlights. I will remove any photo upon request by contacting me at firstname.lastname@example.org 0r 907-240-1025.
