The first day of the Fur Rendezvous celebration in Anchorage, Alaska was chilly with large flakes of snow falling. People were excited to get outside after 82 inches of snow and temperatures as low as minus 150 F. People were enjoying snow sculptures, hockey tournaments, food and meeting old friends.

I used my Nikon 70-200mm f/4 lens with my Nikon D600 and monopod to take these images. I used a high ISO of 400 so I could use high shutter speeds to stop falling snow from streaking. Although some facial images were unusable due to streaking snow, the falling snow set the mood for photographs. The soft overcast light helped obtain so correct exposures. Human faces are enhanced by diffused illumination. I will remove any photo upon request by contacting me at bartz@englishoephotography.com or 907-240-1025.
