These photos were taken on July 4, 2012 in Anchorage, Alaska. Each year Anchorage holds a parade on the fourth for kids. It was warm and people were enjoying the day. At least a thousand people watched the parade, but tens of thousands of Anchorage residents headed south to fish, hike, boat and bike. July is a good month to fill your freezer with salmon and halibut. Anchorage seems almost vacant on the 4th because everyone is enjoying Alaska elsewhere. Campgrounds are full.
I used my Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 lens and Nikon D7000 to take these photos with a monopod. I used aperture priority so I could keep apertures between from f/2.8 and f/4.0 to keep depth of field narrow. I only wanted people’s faces in focus, not the background. I will remove any image upon request by contacting me at email@example.com.
